Troop 8 2008 Activities

Jan 19, 2008                  Participate in the Orienteering Competition at Mistletoe State Park.  We plan on doing the Map Hike and Scouts can choose the White, Yellow or Orange Course.  Cost of the Orienteering is $8.00

Jan 20-21, 2008               Backpack and camp at Mistletoe State Park camp in the wilderness area
Walk in only access 6 miles – no vehicle access will need to carry tent, water and food

                                    Projected Cost – Camping Fee $8 and split the cost of food by patrol

                                    Advancement potential – 2^nd and 1^st class cooking, Camping Merit Badge

 

Feb 16-17, 2008              Backpack in Sumter National Forest along the Long Cane Horse Trail.  Walk in access only – expect to hike about 16 miles total - – no vehicle access will need to carry tent, water and food

                                     Projected Cost – Camping Fee $1 and the cost of food

                                     Advancement potential – 2^nd and 1^st class cooking, Camping Merit Badge

 

March 28-29-30, 2008       Camp at Vogtle Recreation Area with Pack 8 – Webelos II bridging

                                     Projected Cost - Split the cost of food by patrol
 Advancement potential – Conservation Project

April 26-27, 2008             OA Dixie

May 10-11, 2008              Backpack prep – Walk ~ 12 miles with nearly full pack to Bussey Point

                                     Projected Cost – $6 for campsite & Split the cost of food by patrol

                                     Advancement potential – 2^nd class 5 mile hike with compass - Camping   Merit Badge

June 13- 14- 15, 2008      Okefenokee Swamp Visit the Okefenokee Swamp Park (at Waycross GA) on Friday.  Then camp at Stephen Foster State Park in Fargo GA.

July 13-19, 2008              Summer Camp at Woodruff - $255.00 for Scouts / $185.00 for Adult Leaders

August 22-23-24, 2008      Family Event – Camp at Georgia Veterans State Park and take a train ride aboard the  Sam Short Line
Projected Cost – Camp $15, $20 for the train ride and split the cost of food

September 5, 6, 7, 2008   Chickasaw District Camporee at Knox Scouting Reservation

 

October 17-18-19, 2008      Boshears Fly-in
